Akshardham Temple - Delhi

The temple of Akshardham is one of the finest structures that stand high in architecture. It is a symbol that stands high for the Indian culture, spirituality and architecture. The Akshardham temple is located on the banks of river Yamuna. The architectural style refers to that of the VastruShastra and PanchtantraShastra. The temple was inaugurated on November 6th 2005. It took five long years to complete the structure.

The grand structure is very beautiful spread in a massive complex. The complex has several statues and floral motifs.

Akshardham temple holds the credit of being the largest temple in the country. It is a major tourist attraction in Delhi. ArchitectureThe construction of the grand structure took about five years to complete. This temple is the largest in the country. The specialty of the temple lies in the materials used for its construction. It is made up of only stones and no steel is used in it. The temple is ten stories high. The colossal structure comprises of 234 carved pillars, 9 flamboyant domes and 20 quadrangle spires. The structure is made up of  pink sandstone that was brought from Rajasthan. The splendid architecture of this temple provides glimpse of different architectural style that is prevalent in India.

Around and in the templeThe temple of Akshardham was inaugurated by Shri. APJ kalam in 2005. This splendid structure contains many attractions wrapped around it. Spread in hundred miles, motivated by jain architecture, akshardham temple is the perfect place to gain inner peace. Though the architecture is influenced by Jain architecture it also shows the mixture of various Indian styles of art. It offers a number of shows that are of great interest to the tourists visiting the temple.

Among the various sections to visit in the temple is 'Sahajanand Pradarshan' (Hall of Values). With the high technological advancement of robotics and dioramas, this hall displays the life events of Bhagwan Swaminarayan.  This hall is worth visiting. It has the glory of possessing the smallest robot.

Next comes the Nilkanth hall showcasing the epic journey of Bhagwan Swaminarayan all over India when he was only of eleven years old.

The next show is 'Sanskruti Vihar', which includes a boat ride. Here an amazing boat ride waits for the visitors in a non natural river.  This river passes through the world's first university of Takshashila, chemistry laboratories, ancient hospitals, bazaars and Ajanta-Ellora caves.

Bharat Upavan is the area full of greenery spread in 60 acres. The lush greenery gives an awesome view and offers fresh breath to the visitors. It has many bronze statues installed in the garden.

Next is the YogiHraday Kamal which is of the shape of the Lotus. This magnificent garden features massive stones stamped with quotes from legends of the world. The variety of quotes ranges from Shakespeare, Martin Luther King to Swami Vivekananda and Bhagwan Swaminarayan.
