About the TempleDev Dham Jodhpuriya temple is dedicated to Lord Devnarayan. It is situated near Mashi dam at Newai town of Tonk district in Rajasthan. Lord Devnarayan is worshiped as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Devnarayan was born in Vikram Samvat 968 to the Sawai Bhoj Bagaravat, and Sadhu Mata Gurjari. Sawai Bhoj Bagaravat was a warrior. The  Dev Dham Jodhpuriya temple also houses the shrines of Sri Sawai Bhoj Gurjar, Taradey Panwar, Bhuna Ji and Mehandu Ji.

Temple History and Temple Legend

Lord Vishnu is revered as God Devnarayan in Dev Dham Jodhpuriya temple. According to a local hearsay, Lord Vishnu had incarnated in Vikram Samvat 968 as the son of Gurjar warriors Shri Sawai Bhoj Bagaravat and Sadhu Mata Gurjari. Dev Dham Jodhpuriya is a century-old shrine that houses several idols of gods and goddesses.

The magnificent designs and carving bear testimony to the creativity and craftsmanship of the artisans. The statue of  Lord Devnarayan as a child resting on the lap of Sadhu Mata Gurjari as well as a statue of Lord Devnarayan drinking the milk of lioness can be seen in the temple complex.

Puja, Celebrations, and FestivalsEvery year, Dev Dham Jodhpuriya temple organises the two major fairs at the temple premises in the memory of Lord Devnarayan. During these fairs, Bhopas of Devnarayan make portraits related to his birth and his brave deeds on a Thali while dancing.

On Fridays, devotees gather in the temple premises and conduct night-vigil or Jagran to worship the lord.

How to reach

By Road: The temple is located 75 kilometres away from Jaipur. Buses ply regularly from all the major cities of Rajasthan.

By Train: Banasthali Niwai is the nearby railway station. Apart from this, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur and Kota are other major railway heads to access the Newai town.

By Air: The nearest airport is Jaipur International Airport which is located at the distance of 55 km.
