Budh Dosh Nivaran Puja Ritual:Lord Budha is considered as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. To please Budh, Lord Krishna or Lord Vishnu is worshipped on Wednesday. Fasting and Donation are also conducted on this day to bestow the planet. Budh Dosh Nivaran Puja begins on Wednesday and it is always completed on next Wednesday. Budh Dosh Nivaran Puja has various stages and many procedures. It is not possible to mention all of these procedures but following are the most important steps for this puja. Budh Dosh Nivaran Puja includes chant of 125,000 Budh Veda mantras. At the day of starting of this puja, a resolution is taken by the Priest that he will be chanting 125,000 Budh Veda mantras for a specific person. Generally, it takes 7 days to complete the chants. This is the first step of Vedic Mercury puja. After completion of mantra chant, a puja ceremony is arranged for Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva, and Lord Ganesh. The offering of flowers, fruits, sweets, dhoop, deep, milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar and many other things are made to gods and goddesses. The completion of the resolution taken by the Priest is repeated and it is conveyed to the gods. Several things representing nava-graha or some specific planets are also offered and donated during the puja ceremony. These may include, rice, wheat, salt, oil, milk, blanket, copper vessels, pulses and lentils, which are related to one or the other planet of nava-graha. After completion of puja ceremony, a Havana is performed which is a very important ceremony. Havana is a very important and it should be performed by an expert priest with great care. In front of the holy fire of Havana, the chant of Budh Ved mantra is again started along with some other important mantras. The Puja Samagri is offered to the Havana. A dry coconut is cut and filled with certain specific things and it is placed in the holy Havana as the offering. The devotee is then asked to complete 1, 3 or 7 parikramas around the Havana Kund. This marks the completion of Budh Dosh Nivaran Puja. Though Budh Dosh Nivaran Puja includes some other procedures in addition to the ones mentioned above, but the above-mentioned stages are the most important part of Budh Dosh Nivaran puja.
