About Laxmi Panchami:

Chaitra Shukla Panchami is known as Kalpadi Tithi. Apart from Kalpadi, this day is popularly known as Lakshmi Panchami. According to the Vedic division of time, the day of Laxmi Panchami relates to the beginning of a Kalpa. As per Hindu scriptures, there are seven Kalpadi days in a year including Gudi Padwa/Ugadi and Akshaya Tritiya.

The day is devoted to Goddess Lakshmi. She is the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. Lakshmi Panchami is also known as Shri Panchami or Shri Vrata. Shri is another name of Lakshmi Devi. Lakshmi Panchami falls in the first week of Hindu New Year. It is very auspicious to worship Goddess Lakshmi on this day. People observe a fast on the entire day of Laxmi Panchami and worship Goddess Lakshmi at home as well as at workplace. Business houses and traders perform Laxmi Puja on this day.

Significance and Legend Of Laxmi Panchami:

Sri Laxmi Panchami is celebrated on the Fifth day of Shukla Paksha in Chaitra month. Goddess Laxmi is worshiped on this day. Devotees keep a fast on this day and worship Goddess Laxmi to get her blessings. According to Puranas, Goddess Laxmi has an attractive appearance. Worshipping Goddess Laxmi eliminates poverty. Devotees can worship Goddess Laxmi by chanting her mantras whenever during their difficult times or problems related to the profession, prosperity, business or wealth.

Devotees should read different stotras on Laxmi Panchami including Kanakdhara Stotra, Laxmi Stotram, and Shri Suktam. It is believed that Goddess Laxmi blesses her devotees on this day. Laxmi Panchami is associated with wealth and success. Goddess Laxmi is considered as the Goddess of success and wealth. Goddess Laxmi is one of the most powerful deities. Since ancient times it is believed that worshiping Goddess Mahalaxmi with various Mantras, Stotras and other holy prayers on Chaitra Shukla Panchami never go in vain.

Celebrations and Rituals:

Devotees should wake up early and take a bath. They should chant stotras and mantra of Goddess Laxmi’s before beginning the fast. During the worship, place Goddess Laxmi’s idol on a platform. The idol should be cleaned with Panchamrit. Offer Sandalwood, Banana leaves, a garland of flowers, rice, durva, red thread, Betel nuts, Coconut to Goddess Laxmi. After performing the Aarti of Goddess Laxmi, food is offered to Brahmanas. Some money is also given to them. A devotee who is keeping this fast receives a lot of wealth and auspicious results. No food should be consumed during this fast. Devotees should only eat fruits, milk, and sweets. Goddess Laxmi is a symbol of wealth and success. Goddess Laxmi is also associated with feelings of attraction and greed. She blessed her devotees with wealth and success. One can achieve success, and all his problems are resolved if he worships Goddess Laxmi.
