About the Temple
Narasingh Badri temple has the close association with Badrinath temple. The Narsingh temple is located in Joshimath. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Vishnu. The temple houses the idol of Lord Narasimha, one of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu, which is made out of the Shaligram stone. The locals believe that the idol of Lord Narasimha is self-manifested or swayambhu. The idol of Lord Narasimha stands 25 cm tall and depicts the half man and half lion image of Lord Narasimha sitting in the Lotus position. Along with the Narasimha idol, the temple also has an idol of Lord Badrinath.
The statue of Narsingh Bhagwan shows excellent workmanship.

Temple Legend
The legend of existing temple of Narasimha Badri or Narasingh Badri at Joshimath is closely related to the Bhavishya Badri legend. The temple was constructed in the 8th century A.D during the reign of king Lalitaditya Yukta Pida of Kashmir. The temple was built during his Digvijay yatra.

As per the hearsay, it is believed that one arm of the temple idol is becoming fragile with the time and a day will come when the arm will finally fall off. When the arm vanishes, the main shrine of Badrinath will be blocked to the world as the two mountains Jaya and Vijaya will collapse down closing the route to Badrinath. Lord Badrinath will appear at Bhavishya Badri shrine. With this catastrophic event, Kali yuga will end. It will ensure the beginning of Satya yuga. Then the Badrinath shrine would get reconstructed.
The priests of Badrinath shrine shift to this temple and continue their worship to Lord Badrinath at this place during the winter when the Badrinath shrine is closed.
