About the Temple:
Siddhi Vinayak Temple is consecrated to Lord Ganesh. The temple is among one of the Ashtavinayaka, the eight revered shrines of Ganesha in Maharashtra. The temple stands atop a hillock surrounded by Babul trees on the northern bank of Bhima river in Siddhatek village of Ahmednagar district. The idol of Lord Ganesha is seen with his trunk turned to the right. It is believed that the right trunk Ganesha is very powerful. It is the only Ashtavinayaka shrine with right trunk Ganesha. Traditionally, an image whose trunk is to the right is known as "Siddhi Vinayaka," who gives the giver "accomplishment, success" and powers. The temple is considered as a Jagrut Kshetra where the deity is said to be highly powerful.

Temple History and Temple Legend:
Originally, the temple was built by Lord Vishnu. However, it got destroyed over the time. Later, a cowherd found the idol of Siddhi-Vinayaka. The cowherd started worshiping the deity. The present temple was developed in the late 18th century by Ahilyabai Holkar, the Queen of Indore. The outer hall was previously built by Mairal, a landlord from Baroda which was rebuilt in 1970. The temple has a dome-shaped stone ceiling. The temple is constructed out of black stone, and it stands towards the north. The temple assembly hall is made up of black stone. The temple sanctum is 15 ft high and 10 ft wide. It has brass sculptures of Jaya-Vijaya – the gatekeepers of Lord Vishnu's abode. These sculptures are flanking the central icon of Siddhi Vinayaka. Ganesha image is believed to be self-existent, naturally occurring in the form of an elephant-faced stone The brass idol is seated cross-legged with his consort Siddhi.

Mudgala Purana narrates that when Lord Brahma started creating the universe, two demons Madhu and Kaitabha rise from the dirt in Lord Vishnu's ear. The demons disturbed Brahma's process of creation, thereby compelling Vishnu to awake. Lord Vishnu could not defeat them. He asked Lord Shiva who informed Lord Vishnu that he must invoke Lord Ganesha before the battle. Hence, Lord Vishnu performed penance at Siddhatek, invoking Ganesha with the chant of "Om Sri Ganeshaya Namah." Lord Ganesha bestowed his blessings and various siddhis on Lord Vishnu, who then killed the demons. The place where Lord Vishnu acquired siddhis was known as Siddhatek.

Festivals and Celebrations:
Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated for the five days in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada. A celebration is held to commemorate the birthday of Lord Ganesha, also known as Ganesha Jayanti, on the fourth day of the Magha month. The palki of Lord Ganesha is taken out for the procession for three consecutive days. A festival and fair are organized on Dussehra and Somavati Amavasya, a no moon day that falls on a Monday.
