About the Temple
The temple of Attahas, also known as Phullora Attahas, is believed to be among one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. This is the place where the lower lip of Goddess Sati was dropped. The temple is located amidst the dense forest near Nirol village in Bardhaman district of West Bengal. The temple houses a 15 ft tall stone which represents the lower lip of Goddess Shakti. Here, the deity is worshiped as Goddess Phullora. Lord Bhairav, her consort is worshiped as Lord Vishwesh. Next to the main temple is a shrine of Kal Bhairav and Lord Shiva. An idol of Lord Shiva is seen sitting on a Lotus. Though the temple is not a grand structure, the marble made edifice is designed beautifully. The overall ambiance is very divine and tranquil. Devotees offer Hibiscus flowers to Goddess and seek her blessings.

The Sanskrit term Attahas comes from Atta (loud) and Hasa (laughter) meaning loud laughter. The temple of Attahas is considered among the 51 Shakti Peethas which are the holy places where the body parts of Goddess Sati's corpse fell when Lord Shiva carried her body after her death. The places where her body parts fell were enshrined by the divine presence of Shakti. Being a Shakti Peeth, the legend of Phullara temple is associated with the Daksha Yajna event and the self-immolation of Sati. After Sati immolated herself, Lord Shiva carried her body and performed Tandav. To pacify Lord Shiva and to save the universe from the anger of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu mutilated the corpse of the Goddess Sati by his Sudarshan Chakra. The lower lip of Goddess Sati fell here which form the Attahasa Shakti Peeth. Each Shakti Peetha has a name for the Shakti and a shrine of Lord Kaal Bhairava associated with the temple. The Shakti of the Attahas is addressed as Goddess Phullara.
There was a big pond beside the temple. According to hearsay, Lord Hanuman collected 108 blue lotuses from this pond when Lord Ram required them for the worship of Goddess Durga.

An annual fair is held during the festival of Holi. On every Amavasya priests perform Yagna in the temple premises.

By Air: Bardhaman airport and Netaji Subhashchandra Bose airport are the nearest airports.
By Train: The nearest rail head is Labhpur and Katwa Railway Junction.
By Road: The temple is well connected by road with all the major towns of West Bengal. The temple is located about 5 km away from the Nirol bus stand.
