About the Temple
The Rampara Kalibari is located in Rampara, just 35 km away from Kolkata in West Bengal. The main deity of the temple is Siddheshwari Kali, an incarnation of Goddess Kali. Lord Shiva is also known as Siddheshwar while Goddess Siddheshwari is the feminine form. The temple was constructed by Rampara based Nandy family who was staunch devotees of Goddess Kali. The temple is well known for its grand Kali puja which is held during the months of October/November. Devotees from far villages and from other places reach the temple to seek the blessings of the deity. It is said that the wooden idol of Goddess Kali is more than 500 years old.

It is said that the forefathers of Madhusudan Nandy had constructed Rambara Kalibari temple which was later rebuilt and subsequently renovated by his sons who were descendants of Nandy Family. At present, the daily Puja rituals and maintenance work are carried out by their present generation. Nandy Family was an ardent devotee of Goddess Kali, hence they decided to construct a temple of Goddess Kali for the prosperity and well being of the people of Rampara and the surrounding villages. The faith of the people in the Goddess Kali is so strong that this temple has become one of the most powerful temples in that region.
The temple has a large courtyard surrounding the temple with a Jagannath temple, a hall and a small garden along with the boundary walls. There are different rooms in the temple. An idol of Goddess Kali is installed in the first room with another deity, Panchanan. The temple has its own residential area which belongs to the Nandy family. The Utensils and the ingredients for the puja are kept in the sacristy of the temple. There is a Pond adjacent to the temple. Rampara temple also has a Rath, which is taken out during the Rath Yatra on the occasion of Jagannath Puja.

The temple represents the traditional Bengal architecture style. It is believed that the history of the temple dates back to more than 300 years. Later, it was rebuilt in early 20th century. The artisans who built Victoria Memorial were involved in the construction of Rampara temple. A separate room was built for Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balaram in the temple premises. A hall is also included in the temple premises to celebrate any auspicious occasion. The temple courtyard is also used to celebrate auspicious function which is held in the temple.

Festivals and Celebrations
Apart from Kali puja, the temple also celebrates Durga Puja, Lakshmi puja, Holi, Diwali and Saraswati puja. There are many occasions which are held at the temple premises.

By Air: The nearest airport is Bagdogra.
By Train: New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station (227 km).
By Road: The temple is well connected by good roads with all the major towns of West Bengal. Local buses and taxis are available to reach the temple.
